Students attending a lecture, University of Tehran, 1978

In the heart of Iran, the University of Tehran was a vibrant hub for academic pursuits in 1978. If we were to step back in time, we’d find a diverse mix of students gathered in lecture halls, engrossed in discussions about politics, literature, science and more. The students’ attire, a blend of traditional and western clothing, reflected Iran’s unique cultural milieu of the time.

Despite the socio-political turbulence outside the campus, the University of Tehran maintained an atmosphere of intellectual curiosity and academic freedom. Students were encouraged to challenge ideas, question norms, and develop their own perspectives. The lectures, often intense and thought-provoking, were not just about academic knowledge; they were a platform for students to engage in critical thinking and dialogue.

This glimpse into the past serves as a reminder of the timeless value of education and the enduring power of universities as spaces for intellectual growth and societal progress.
